assumed to be 286 km. sec.1in direction of 550 longitude6 is allowed for, very little change is brought about in the results of the computation. The velocity of the clouds then proves to be 90 km. sec.-' radially, and 583 km. sec. -1 tangentially, with respect to this center and no appreciable change takes place in the constants of the hyperbolic or elliptic orbits. The plane of the orbit, however, would be altered, since this is in all cases supposed to pass through the velocity vector and the center of reference. 1 Lick Obs. "Experiments on Artificial Parthenogenesis in Annelids (Chaetopterus) and the Nature of the Process of Fertilization" (1901), by Jacques Loeb
Jacques Loeb [5] showed that scientists could achieve artificial parthenogenesis [6] with one species of annelid [7] worm through a series of experiments in 1900. Loeb published the results of his experiments in 1901 as ?Experiments on Artificial Parthenogenesis [8] in Annelids (Chaetopterus) and the Nature of the Process of Fertilization,? in The American Journal of Physiology. His results bro...
متن کاملI-11: Cryopreservation of Canine Embryos
Background: The assisted reproductive techniques (ARTs) such as in vitro fertilization, embryo transfer and cryopreservation of gametes have considerably contributed to the development of biomedical sciences in addition to improved breeding in domestic animals and infertility treatment in humans. However, ARTs used in canine species have strictly limited utility when compared with other mammali...
متن کاملEffects of blastocyst artificial collapse prior to vitrification on hatching and survival rates and the expression of klf4 gene in mouse embryos
Although the rate of blastocysts implantation of embryos is higher than previous stages but their survival rate is lower than them, which could be attributed to the completely filled blastocoel cavity with liquid and increased possibility of the formation of ice crystals. This liquid could prevent the penetration of cryoprotecting materials into the embryos. In this study, we reduced the volume...
متن کاملEvidence that ferritin is associated with light production in the mucus of the marine worm Chaetopterus
The blue glow of the mucus from Chaetopterus involves a photoprotein, iron and flavins. Identity and respective role of these components remain, however, largely unresolved today, likely because of viscosity issues and inhibition of this system by oxidizers conventionally used to track bioluminescence activity. Here, we used gentle centrifugation to obtain a mucus supernatant showing no inhibit...
متن کاملComparative stepwise pattern of reactive oxygen species production during in vitro development of fertilized and nuclear transferred goat embryos
Objective A unique feature of embryo metabolism is production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). It is well established that during in vitro culture, ROS levels increase over normal ranges observed for embryos developed in vivo. This study evaluates and compares the stepwise pattern of ROS production during in vitro development of reconstructed goat embryos produced by zona-free method of somati...
